Saudi Audit Bureau announces saving $5 billion to state’s public treasury

Head of Saudi Arabia’s General Auditing Bureau (GAB), Hossam Al-Anqari, announced on Sunday that the Audit Bureau was able to save and supply more than 20 billion riyals (about $ 5.33 billion) to the public treasure from the entities covered by its control during the fiscal year; with an increase of 127%.

According to the Saudi official news agency of SPA, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received from Al-Anqari, the annual report of the 59th General Auditing Bureau, which includes the main achievements, results of the financial audit and performance monitoring carried out by the Audit Bureau on entities.

The total amount claimed by the GAB, which is still being monitored with the authorities, amounted to more than 66 billion riyals ($ 17.6 billion), up from the previous fiscal year by 78 percent.

On the electronic linkage between the GAB and its supervisory bodies through the electronic monitoring system (Shamil), Al-Anqari explained that more than 270 government agencies have already been linked.
