Saudi-Korean agreement to build intellectual property capacity

Monday, April 1, 2019
Upon approval by the Council of Ministers of a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of intellectual property between the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the Korean Intellectual Property Office in the Republic of Korea, a series of executive programs were launched in the presence of HE Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Swailem, the Executive Chairman of the Authority, Korean Commissioner Park Wongo and Chairman of the Korean Intellectual Property Strategy Agency Kim Tae-man.
The goal of these programs is to build national capacities in the field of intellectual property, particularly in the fields of patent registration and examination, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright and policies for the generation, use and respect of intellectual property rights.
It is worth mentioning that the Authority signed an agreement with the South Korean Intellectual Property Office last January, the Fast Track Examination of Applications (PPH) Agreement, which aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the patent granting procedures of the Authority.
